Lynn Whitfield, an African American actress, was born Lynn Butler-Smith of Baton Rouge, Louisiana on May 6, 1953. Lynn Whitfield appeared in the 1982 film adaption of Ntozake Shange's play "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf". she has also appeared in movies such as Eve's Bayou, The Josephine Baker Story, Thin Line Between Love and Hate, and a host of other works.
