Old School Friday - Karen Carpenter
Happy Friday!! Today is the birthday of Karen Anne Carpenter. Karen Carpenter was a Caucasian American, singer and drummer, she was also the female half of the singing sibling duo "The Carpenters". Karen was born on March 2, 1950 in New Haven Connecticut and she died on February 4, 1983 in Downey, California from heart failure. Karen's heart failure was a direct result of her long time fight with anorexia nervosa. She was 32 years old when she died. Karen along with her brother Richard, had several major hits in the 1970's, such as "We've Only Just Begun" and "Close To You". In the early 1970's the Carpenters received two Grammy Awards.
